Great Kitchen Cabinet Ideas for Displaying Dishes

This cabinet design implements both windowed cabinet doors and an interior plate rack!

Do you have antique china that you would love to have on display in your kitchen? Or do you love the idea of a more open and airy kitchen design? There are a few innovative cabinet designs that allow your dishes to be on display while also making your kitchen feel more open and light. Here are three of the best ways to put your collection on display in your kitchen.

Floating Shelves

Floating shelves are essentially individual wall-mounted shelves that appear to be floating. These simple shelves look great made out of aged wood in a rustic kitchen. Or go for a more modern look with sleek black floating shelves. Each shelf is installed at a different height, creating a dramatic, varied look. Then, simply stack your plates or use a plate holder to put them on display on the shelves.

Windowed Cabinet Doors

Windowed cabinetry involves cabinetry doors with glass installed in each door so that you can see the contents of certain cabinets. You can add on to this look with framing, latticework, or even stained glass! This is a great design for the clean, uncluttered kitchen. Of course, if the insides of your cabinets are a  bit cluttered, don’t fear. You can install windowed doors on a few of your cabinet doors that have well-maintained interiors and leave the rest of your cabinetry with solid wood doors.

Plate Rack

A plate rack is a classic design that easily puts plates on display. This wall-mounted, wooden rack is a part of your cabinetry. Instead of doors, a plate rack has rungs spanning the front of the cabinet to hold plates in place. Each plate is separated from the others, which minimizes scratching and also creates a pleasurable display.
